Vampires...
Vampires. There's so many different versions! So, here's how they work on TN. Holy items keep vampires away, so basically if you're wearing a holy item, like a cross, a vampire can't touch you. These items also burn a vampire, and the wound will leave a scar. Garlic? Doesn't have any affect, it's just a food. Sunlight doesn't make them go up in flames, but it does make them really weak over time, so most of the time they avoid standing in direct sunlight. They sleep in beds, like everyone else, though the older ones may still sleep in coffins. Vampires have super strength, and are really resilient. The only way to kill them is to hit the heart, or decapitate them. Wooden stakes work fine for staking the heart, but knives and bullets work too. Anything besides burns by a holy item, they can heal without leaving a scar. Vampires cannot have kids, and there will be no sparkling in the sunlight, got that?
mort de sang...
Mort de Sang is made up of mostly younger vampires- young-ish, anyways. A few hundred years and under, with a couple older ones here and there. It was created a little over a hundred years ago by a group of vampires who hoped the coven would be a refuge for rogue vampires. The vampires of Mort de Sang tend to be a little more human; for the most part, they are against killing their victims when they feed, and try to find willing donors. They have donors: a small group of humans who know of the existence of preternatural creatures, and are willing blood donors for the vampires in Mort de Sang. They are considered part of the coven, well treated. The coven lives in a large mansion near the beach. The coven's Elder Lord, Christia, also owns a strip club called Guilty Pleasures, where many of the vampires may work.
vita sanguinante... Vita Sanguinante is made up of mostly older vampires. It is much older than Mort de Sang, founded over six hundred years ago in Italy. They were forced to move to America when a group of holy men burned their mansion, claiming they were the devil spawn. They eventually made their permanent home in Redondo, unaware of the existence of Mort de Sang. The vampires of Vita Sanguinante are more cruel than those of Mort de Sang. Most of them have no problem killing their victims; they see humans as lesser beings. They are also very intolerant of lycanthropes, were-animals, of any kind, seeing them as abominations. The coven lives in a manor. The two covens are at odds with each other, however they are doing their best to keep from starting a war, but tensions are growing every day.
rogue vampires... There are a few rogues in the city, vampires who don't belong to either coven. Most of them are new in town, or they're very good at staying under the radar. Neither coven is ok with rogues in their territory, so be very careful if you do not wish to join a coven.
Were-Animals... Like vampires, there are a couple different ways werewolves are portrayed. Here on TN, they, as well as any other kinds of were-anmals, don't turn into wolfman, or catman, or whatever, but the actual animal they are. They change with the full moon, but can change any other time, if they have enough control. Strong emotions, such as anger, can bring the change on, for the younger, more inexperienced shapeshifter. Older ones can control themselves better. Really powerful ones can control the change so well, they can only bring about certain parts, such as only bringing out claws. A human can become a were-animal by being scratched by one, but only when they are in shifted form. A lycanthrope in human form is not contagious. A baby may also be born a lycanthrope, but only if both parents are, and the gestation cycle will be that of the animal, not the nine months of a human. Lycanthropes live twice as long as the average human, aging one year for every two actual years.
the pack...
The werewolf pack works pretty much like any other wolf pack. Alpha, beta, the whole we're a family thing. Wolf is the most contagious strain of lycanthropy, so the pack is rather large. Most of the wolves keep their own homes, as there is no collective home. There is a cafe that is owned by a member of the pack where they congregate.
the pride... See The Pack, only for lions. They congregate at a small diner.
the prowl... Wereleopards. Though leopards are, in the wild, solitary creatures, they are the opposite for wereanimals. They are very close to the others in their prowl, and most live together in the house of the house of the King and Queen.
the streak... The tigers, too, live together in a large house, the house of the Queen. As in the wild, the streak is run by a queen only, only females can run the streak. There are several different kinds of tigers. Tigers are the hardest feline strain of lycanthropy to catch.
the cackle... Hyena is one of the hardest strains of lycanthropy to catch. There is no set leader of a cackle, it is just a group working together as a family. They own a small bar.
other shapeshifters... As far as other lycanthropes, there may be others in Redondo, but these are the only established groups. Also, other shapeshifters who are not tied to the moon are allowed.
Witches... The term is used to describe both male and females of the craft. There are spells for almost everything, and the more talented witches can do a spell without speaking it. The coven is run by a high priest or high priestess. The coven in Redondo is rather large, with witches of all levels and talents. It's a very large family, and the coven expects a lot of commitment.
Fairies... There are many different kinds of fairies, not just the tiny pixies with wings. Not all fairies have wings, though some do. Those who do, most of the time, can change size, and only in their smaller size can they fly, as the wings are not strong enough to allow them to fly at human height. All fairies have some sort of magic, and the more powerful ones have a 'hand of power', which is a major power that is connected to one of the fairies hands. Pretty much what it sounds like. A fairy may have the hand of fire, in their right hand, so they'd have to focus on their right hand, or hold it up, to control the fire. A really powerful fairy may have two hands of power. Fairies are immortal, in the same sense that vampires are immortal. They live, and live, and live, unless someone kills them. They can be killed the same way as vampires, if their heart is so severely damaged they can't heal it, or decapitation. Fairies are born, not created, and they stop aging between the age of twenty and twenty five.
seelie court...
The fairies of the Seelie Court are the fairies of the light. Do not mistake this for fairies of good, becuase they can be just as bad or worse than the Unseelies. Rather, their powers are mostly of light, or air, and of heeling. They tend to prefer white marble homes and open spaces. Fairies normally live in what's called a Sithen, a magical home, but there is no actual sithen in Redondo. Instead, they call the home of their King or Queen the Sithen. Some of the fairies may live in this 'sithen', but many keep their own homes.
unseelie court...Basically the opposite of the Seelies, their powers come from darker places. They have hands of destruction, of blood, of darkness. They prefer night to day, and dark homes, and many have a thing for leather. See Seelie Court for details on how they live and congregate.
Angels and Demons...
I think they're pretty self explanatory. Angels are things of light and goodness, demons are the opposite. Go wild with your imagination.
